On December 5th, 2025, ZeroWaste Center by R.O.L.E. Foundation collaborated with JTB Bali for a day of environmental action at Kelan Beach. The team collected an impressive 181.8 kg of inorganic waste and followed it up with a crucial waste management training session for JTB Bali team provided by ZeroWaste Center by R.O.L.E. Foundation. This event highlighted the importance of hands-on efforts to tackle pollution and promote sustainable practices in Bali.

Over 181kg of waste collected at Kelan Beach

The beach cleanup at Kelan Beach was a powerful demonstration of community collaboration, with more than 70 participants from ZeroWaste Center and JTB Bali working together to remove a total of 181.8 kg of inorganic waste. This included 122.4 kg of residue, 28.85 kg of hard plastic, and 23.8 kg of glass bottles, with the remaining smaller amounts, such as slippers, aluminum cans, and plastic lighter. Beach cleanups activities are vital in preventing pollution from entering our ocean, where it can damage marine ecosystems, harm wildlife, and degrade water quality. We expected this event could raise awareness and encourage people and organizations to take responsibility for their waste.

Turning trash into knowledge: Waste training in action

ZeroWaste Center is dedicated to promoting sustainable waste management practices across Bali. By working directly with local businesses and communities, they aim to reduce waste at its source and educate individuals on eco-friendly habits. Following the cleanup, ZeroWaste Center provided a comprehensive waste management training session for JTB Bali, attended by more than 70 participants. The session covered topics such as proper waste separation, recycling, composting, and ways for businesses to reduce their environmental footprint. This collaboration with JTB Bali is expected to help ensure Bali’s tourism industry is aligned with sustainable practices.
