Thursday, September 6, 2018. Twenty students from SMP Dwijendra Bualu aged 13-14 years old had half day program about waste management with R.O.L.E. Foundation at Zero Waste to Oceans- Community Environment and Skills Center.  This twenty students will add our number of students who have been trained with us into 6647.

Most of them only knows about organic and non-organic waste separation, but today they learnt more about the importance of waste separation, 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle), recyclable and non-recyclable waste, and composting at our center.

They were also passionately learning about different type of plants, the role of seed bank, making seedlings and seed balls. We also conducted herbal smelling test and had discussion about companion planting.

The training continued about natural dyes and we showed them the process of turning dyed yarn into beautiful scarves with traditional weaving. Final station was the Soap Upcycling station where the students learnt about turning the used soap from hotels into new bar of soap that will be distributed to orphanages, disadvantaged and poor people who lack access to basic hygiene products.

The training finished with refreshments of lemon grass tea and traditional cakes. After their eco passport got stamped, they received the R.O.L.E. Foundation sticker followed by review questions and finally the training closed with a group photo.

Kamis, 6 September 2018. Dua puluh siswa/siswi dari SMP Dwijendra Bualu umur 13-14 tahun mendapatkan pelatihan setengah hari mengenai manajemen sampah dengan Yayasan R.O.L.E. Bali di Zero Waste to Oceans – Community Environment and Skills Center.

Banyak dari siswa/siswi hanya mengetahui pemisahan antara sampah organik dan non-organik. Sehingga pada hari ini mereka belajar banyak tentang pentingnya pemisahan sampah, prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), sampah bisa didaur ulang dan tidak bisa didaur ulang, dan membuat kompos.

Mereka dengan semangat belajar tentang jenis tanaman, peran Bank Bibit, membuat pembibitan dan bola bibit. Mereka juga mendapatkan kuis tentang jenis tanaman herbal dari baunya serta metode penanaman tumpang sari.

Pelatihan berlanjut ke pewarnaan alami dan mereka ditunjukkan bagaimana proses benang yang sudah diwarnai menjadi syal yang indah dengan metode tenun tradisional. Stasiun terkahir yang dikunjungi mereka adalah Daur Ulang Sabun dimana siswa/siswi diajari menjadikan sabun bekas dari hotel menjadi sabun baru yang nantinya akan disebarkan ke panti asuhan, orang yang kurang mampu dan orang yang kesulitan mendapatkan akses barang kebersihan.

Pelatihan selesai dengan istirahat, makan minum dengan the serai dan jajan tradisional. Setelah eco passport mereka distempel, mereka mendapatkan stiker R.O.L.E. Foundation dan dilanjutkan dengan pertanyaan review dan akhinya ditutup dengan foto bersama.
