The ZeroWaste Centre by R.O.L.E. Foundation is helping children learn how to care for the planet through fun, hands-on education. In September 2025, the foundation’s Kids Environmental Classroom Program reached five schools and involved a total of 1,023 students. The program includes two main activities: ZeroWaste Goes to School (Z-GTS) and the Kids Environmental Tour
Through Z-GTS, the R.O.L.E. Foundation team visits public schools to teach students how small daily actions can make a big difference for the environment. In September, 1,003 students from SD 2 Benoa, SD 2 Jimbaran, SD 2 Ungasan, and SD 10 Jimbaran took part.
During the sessions, students learned about: The different types of waste and why it’s important to separate them properly; The impact of plastic waste on nature and how to reduce it; Composting, turning food scraps into useful fertilizer for plants. These simple lessons help children understand that everyone can take part in protecting the Earth, even at a young age.
Meanwhile, 20 students from SD 9 Benoa visited the ZeroWaste Centre for a fun and educational Kids Environmental Tour. Here, they got to experience sustainability in action through a series of interactive activities, such as: Recycling workshops – making recycled soap, natural dyes, and paper; Waste management – learning how to separate plastic waste and upcycle glass bottles; Composting and seed planting – seeing how organic waste becomes soil to grow new life; Marine life education – discovering how waste affects the ocean; Trigona Bee Station – learning about the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. By allowing children to see and practice what they learn, this tour helps them connect environmental concepts with real-world actions.
The Impact

Through both programs, the R.O.L.E. Foundation has: Educated 1,023 students about waste, recycling, and sustainability; Reached 5 schools in the local community; Increased awareness among young people about protecting the planet. These numbers represent more than just participation—they show the growing impact of environmental education in shaping a cleaner, greener future for Bali.
The Kids Environmental Classroom Program helps children build knowledge, curiosity, and care for the environment. By starting with the younger generation, the R.O.L.E. Foundation believes that positive change will naturally spread through families and communities. Through these programs, the ZeroWaste Centre continues to show how education can be a powerful tool in creating a cleaner, more sustainable world. With every child who learns to recycle, compost, and care for nature, we move one step closer to a zero-waste future—one child at a time.
