Imagine sitting on the soft sand of Kelan Beach, watching a massive airplane glide smoothly over the sparkling green-blue water right as the sky bursts into shades of gold and pink. Sounds like absolute magic, right? It’s no wonder this spot is a favorite for locals and travelers from all over the world looking to catch that perfect Bali sunset.
But if you look a little closer at the shoreline, a different story unfolds. The waves that bring in the beautiful tides also wash up a gentle reminder that our oceans still need a lot of love.
“We don’t need one person doing sustainability perfectly. We need millions of us doing it imperfectly, starting right here on the sand.”
Hands in the Sand: Teamwork in Action

To help keep this iconic view pristine, the incredible team from PT. FAITHFULL the Brand teamed up with the R.O.L.E. Foundation for another powerful morning of action. With 27 passionate participants rolling up their sleeves, we combed the beach, laughed, connected, and did some heavy lifting for Mother Nature. Together, our small but resilient crew managed to remove a total of 149.95 kg of inorganic waste from the beach!
Sorting It Out: The Impact Breakdown

After collecting the bags, we headed back to the ZeroWaste Center to do the real work: sorting. The 149.95 kg collection was led by 64 kg of residue (42.7%), consisting of non-recyclable materials that would otherwise pollute the sand for centuries, followed closely by 45.55 kg of hard plastics (30.4%) like broken buckets and single-use containers that pose a massive entanglement risk to Bali’s marine life. The team also cleared 22.95 kg of glass bottles (15.3%), removing a severe hazard for barefoot sunset strolls, alongside 9.2 kg of rubber and slippers (6.1%) that slowly break down and leach chemicals into the water. The silver lining of the day was recovering 8.25 kg of aluminum cans (5.5%), which were safely diverted from landfills for high-quality recycling.
Turning Tides and Spreading Awareness

While the numbers show how much waste is still washing ashore, it also shows the power of community. Every bottle picked up and every piece of plastic sorted is a step toward shifting mindsets. We are incredibly grateful to PT. FAITHFULL the Brand for bringing their energy, smiles, and dedication to the coast.
