Staff and students from Bali Wise, Island Sustainability Center and Komune Resort joined together to clean up the beach and the sand dunes south of the Keramas break and the first 100 meters of the river was cleaned as well.
It was given a thorough cleaning. This area has probably never been cleaned before.
15 Ketapang trees were planted for shade and erosion control. These trees were grown and the compost they were planted in were produced from the Waste to Wonder Program at the Island Sustainability Center sponsored by Rotary Club Bali, Nusa Dua. Estela, Roles passionate Permaculture Guru taught everyone how to plant the trees in the best position and best way for them to get off to a great start. It is important to plant as many trees as possible at the start of the rainy season, so they are strong and big enough before the next dry.
Over 20 extra large garbage bags were collected as well.
Big thanks to the students and staff of Role and Komune for the 5am wake up and 6am start and all the hard work.
Big thanks to Komune for drinks and snacks on completion of the job well done.
