July Showers Bring Eco Powers!
For the past three weeks our students have been busy as bees, studying Permaculture under the guidance of recently graduated second semester students I Ketut Karang and Ni Wayan Sapen, and our support interns.
As part of the program, our students are also excited to be leading this term’s series of community-based Permacultre Workshops, offered every Saturday from 1:00-4:00 pm.
The sessions always relate to the week’s subject of study, are children-friendly, and provide the opportunity for our students to flex their mental muscles while teaching what they have learned during the week.
Last Saturday focused on the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – and oversaw the construction of “Project Nursery Boat” – a new seedling nursery which we built out of an old wooden canoe using all recycled materials!
This Saturday, July 20th, we are proud to be hosting a lecture from Paola of Eco-Bali Recycling and will using patterns found in nature to inspire a crafting session before hand! The cost is 150 000 Rp/Adult, half price for Indonesian Nationals, and by donation for children!
