As part of their training to know more about sustainability, 20 staff of Destination Asia participated in our Think Global Act Local program at Zero Waste to Oceans – Community Environment and Skills Center in Sawangan, Nusa Dua Bali. The group was divided into two session, morning and afternoon and focus on learning more about what can we do for the environment.
After introduced to R.O.L.E. Foundation and its mission, the participants learned about plastic pollution and its effects on marine animals and human health. After that they went to waste management area to separate the waste from recyclable to non-recyclable and did composting.
The final products of compost is used for seedlings and seed balls which the participants really loved. They also got a chance to have small throwing competition with passion fruit as a prize. After that they learned about soap and paper recycling, natural dyeing using sappan wood and traditional weaving.
They also enjoyed traditional cakes, tropical fruits, jamu and lemon grass tea. All fund raised during this interactive training will goes to environmental education of women and local children of Bali.
